What's up. My name's Mathias and I'm from Southern California. Welcome to stories from the surface, my main online presence escaping the ever-worsening hellscape that is 2020s social media. More importantly, a site for anybody who currently, has, or will care for my silly stories across the surface of our beautiful little world.

Primarily this blog will focus on photo stories about nature, particularly, overwhelmingly even, about birds. Additionally, experiences in cities, music, and how I perceive the world around me. It'll also provide an outlet for me to publish and sell some of my favorite photography prints.

My interests are largely in how things interact, which is what led me to Geography (UCLA 2018) in college. Animals and habitat, people and cities, artists and current events, and there's little I love more than photographing all these.
